Traverse Stones

Each area of Pilgrim's Traverse is marked by a numbered stone to help guide travelers along their way.

Entering Pilgrim's Traverse

Deep dungeons have no restrictions to classes, jobs, or roles.

Players may form a fixed party of one to four members, or choose to be matched with other players as with the Duty Finder.

Enter Pilgrim's Traverse by speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0) and choosing whether to enter with a fixed or matched party.

Fixed Parties

To challenge Pilgrim's Traverse with a fixed party, all members must be in Il Mheg and the party leader must speak with Vanthau to enter. To challenge Pilgrim's Traverse solo, simply speak with Vanthau.

All players in a fixed party must have uniform save data to resume play. Moreover, this save data can only be used with the party members and party composition chosen when first entering Pilgrim's Traverse.
* If any party member deletes their save data, the party will be unable to resume play.

Matched Parties

Similar to the Duty Finder, players may choose to be randomly matched with other players in the same data center. Matched parties will always be comprised of four players. When registering with less than four players, any open party slots will be filled automatically.

Players may enter with matched parties throughout the duration of Pilgrim's Traverse.
* While members may be added in the event that party composition falls below the minimum size, this functionality will be unavailable while challenging areas marked by stone 91 and beyond.

Players will be matched to party members with the same dungeon progression recorded in their save data. In order to be matched, players must enter with the same class or job that was equipped when progression was first saved. Furthermore, aetherpool gear must meet certain strength requirements depending on the area being challenged.
* Fixed parties are not subject to aetherpool gear strength requirements.

Area Required Strength
Stone 11 1
Stone 21 3
Stone 31 26
Stone 41 43
Stone 51 60
Stone 61 81
Stone 71 and beyond 94

Save Data

Saving will record data such as player level, class or job, and dungeon progression. Two save data slots are available for each dungeon.

Party inventory data will also be saved for fixed parties.

Boss enemies will appear every 10 traverse stones. Upon defeating them, players will be able to record their progress. Please note that progress made in strengthening aetherpool arms and armor is saved independently and shared across all save data.
* Party KO count will increase in the event you log out or lose connection before completing the duty.

Managing Save Data

Players can manage their save data by talking with Vanthau located in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0).

Resetting Progress

By deleting their save data, players can reset their level, chosen class or job, and dungeon progression.

Aetherpool gear strength will carry over to the new file, allowing players to strengthen their attributes in previous areas if further progression ever becomes difficult.
* Reset save data cannot be recovered.

Disbanding a Fixed Party

Players can convert fixed party save data to matched party save data. Under these conditions, you will be able to match with other players who are currently playing in the same area as you.
* Pomander inventory data will be reset.
* If any members of a fixed party are unable to enter the deep dungeon after the deletion of save data or usage of the Home World transfer service, they must select “Disband your fixed party” to carry over their own save data.

Area Progression

All party members must stand within the glowing perimeter of a Pylon of Passage to access the next area. These pylons will always be inactive when arriving at a new area, and players must defeat a certain number of enemies in said area to activate them.
* Pylons of Passage cannot be used during battle.

Character Growth

By defeating enemies, players will be able to gain EXP and level up within the deep dungeon.

For Pilgrim's Traverse, all players start at level 91 and may level their characters up to 100. Deep dungeons use an independent leveling system, so your level within the dungeon is unrelated to your level outside.

Dungeon EXP

All enemies players encounter will give a fixed amount of EXP regardless of the number of members in your party or the difference in level between you and the enemy.
* Rested experience and experience bonuses will also be ignored.

Actions

Actions obtained via class or job quests will be available for use regardless of quest completion status.

Treasure Coffers

Three types of treasure coffers will randomly appear in the area or occasionally after defeating certain enemies. Each type of coffer contains a different reward, and some will be traps, potentially causing player damage.

All party members will gain the coffer's benefits regardless of who opens it. The coffer will remain if the items contained already exceed the inventory limit.

Bronze Coffers

In addition to normal items such as potions, bronze coffers may also contain fragments of illumed aetherpool glass, which can be exchanged for special items with Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9).

Silver Coffers

Silver coffers may strengthen aetherpool gear or contain juniper incense.

The success or failure of aetherpool gear enhancement, as well as which gear is strengthened and by how much, is decided randomly for each player.

Gold Coffers

Gold coffers yield pomanders.

Aetherpool Gear

Players will be restricted to the use of an aetherpool arm and aetherpool armor when inside a deep dungeon. By strengthening this gear, players can increase damage dealt and decrease damage taken. Aetherpool gear may be strengthened by opening silver coffers, defeating boss enemies from stone 30 onwards, and reaching the end of Pilgrim's Traverse. Aetherpool gear can be enhanced to a maximum strength of +99.

Aetherpool armor will take the appearance of your current gear upon entering the instance.
* Normal gear has no effect on your character's attributes inside a deep dungeon.

Pomanders

Pomanders are special items specific to deep dungeons that grant a variety of boons to players. Up to three of each can be held in an inventory shared by all party members.

Use pomanders by selecting them from the shared inventory.

Juniper Incense

Players may find juniper incense within Pilgrim's Traverse. Up to three pieces can be held in an inventory shared by all party members.

By burning incense, players can call the faerie king to assist them in a variety of ways, such as delivering high damage to all enemies within a given area, or healing party members.

Traps

Deep dungeons are rigged with a variety of traps that inflict detrimental effects upon players when walked across. These traps are invisible unless a player uses a certain pomander to reveal their locations.

The Accursed Hoard

While exploring deep dungeons, players will, on occasion, discover hidden treasure known as the Accursed Hoard. This treasure is invisible unless a player uses a certain pomander to reveal its location.

While the pomander in question is in effect, an icon on the navigation map will indicate the presence of a piece of the Accursed Hoard.

Players may take pieces of the Accursed Hoard out of deep dungeons by saving progress and exiting after defeating a boss enemy. By delivering this treasure to Tyr Marn in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9), players may have their pieces appraised and receive a variety of items including mounts and fashion accessories.

Navigation Map

In deep dungeons, a special navigation map is displayed, which can be used to progress through a given area. When any party member enters a room in the area, the map will automatically update. The icons for the Altar of Return and the Pylon of Passage will appear in their locations on the map.
* This special map can be shown, hidden, or locked via the same commands as the default navigational map used outside the dungeon.
* The default navigational map will not be displayed while inside a deep dungeon.

  • Prohibited Magic or Special Actions
Some areas may prohibit certain actions.
  • Area Effect: Gloom

  • Votive Candelabras

Players may encounter votive candelabras along their journey through Pilgrim's Traverse. Lighting them will affect the area marked by the next traverse stone. While some effects are beneficial to party members, such as healing over time or weakened enemies, others may provide additional challenges, such as an increase in the number of hidden traps.

    Altar of Return

Altars of Return can be accessed to raise all KO'd players. These altars will always be inactive when arriving at a new area, and players must defeat a certain number of enemies in said area in order to activate them.

Upon the completion of objectives in the challenge log for Pilgrim's Traverse, phials of luminous oil or pieces of the Blessed Hoard will be added to a player's inventory.
    * In the event you have a full inventory and are not already in possession of any phials of luminous oil or pieces of the Blessed Hoard, these items cannot be acquired. Please take care to ensure you have space in your inventory.

Luminous oil can be traded to Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) for a variety of items.

Pieces of the Blessed Hoard may be appraised by Tyr Marn in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) to receive items including First Light relics, which may then be traded to Ose Wyd.

    Obtaining Aetherpool Weapons

Players will be able to obtain special weapons after completing the sidequest “Faerie Tale,” which is unlocked upon clearing stone 30 of Pilgrim's Traverse.

How to Acquire Pilgrim's Traverse Weaponry

    • 1. Ensure that the strength of both your aetherpool arm and armor are at least +10.
    • 2. Speak with Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) and select “Forge an illumed aetherpool grip.”
    • 3. Agree to reduce the strength of your aetherpool arm and armor by 10 in order to create an illumed aetherpool grip.

    • 6. Exchange three illumed aetherpool grips for the weapon of your choice.

    * When entering from traverse stone 21 and beyond with a matched party, aetherpool gear strength must meet the requirements for the area being challenged.

    • Stone 21
    • Stone 31
    • Stone 51
    • Stone 71

    Scoring

Fixed parties that challenge deep dungeons will receive an aggregate score.

A variety of factors are calculated, including monsters slain, coffers opened, furthest area reached, and time spent. The resulting score is determined upon clearing certain areas or when all party members are incapacitated.

Scores for both solo and party play are recorded separately, and those that apply to expeditions beyond stone 30 are displayed as rankings for each data center.

High scores can be confirmed by speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0).

A new duty, the Final Verse, has been added.

Level Requirement Disciple of War or Magic level 91
    Item Level Requirement None
Party Size Up to four players
    Time Limit 90 minutes

    Requirements

After reaching stone 99 of Pilgrim's Traverse, players will be able to challenge the Final Verse. This boss fight is identical to the one fought at stone 99.

Once this duty has been unlocked, it is no longer necessary to retain save data that reaches to stone 99.

    Invoking the Final Verse

After speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0), select “Invoke the Final Verse” and choose whether to enter with a fixed or matched party. When entering with a matched party, aetherpool gear strength must be +94 or above.

As with Pilgrim's Traverse, your character's attributes will not be affected by normal gear, and instead will be dictated by aetherpool gear strength.

Additionally, while players may challenge this duty at level 91, their level will automatically be adjusted to 100 upon entering. There are no role requirements or restrictions for parties.

    Rewards

Upon victory, a treasure coffer will appear, and all party members will receive random rewards upon opening it. Occasionally, players may receive rare items.

A new duty, the Final Verse (Quantum), has been added.

The Final Verse (Quantum) is a challenging duty that implements a new type of difficulty scaling.

Level Requirement Disciple of War or Magic level 100
    Item Level Requirement None
    Party Size Four players
    Time Limit 90 minutes

    Requirements

Players may challenge this duty after completing the sidequest “???” which is unlocked upon clearing the final area of Pilgrim's Traverse.

Once this duty has been unlocked, it is no longer necessary to retain save data that reaches to the final area of Pilgrim's Traverse.

    Invoking the Final Verse (Quantum)

After forming a party of four players, the party leader must speak with Vanthau in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0) and select “Invoke the Final Verse (Quantum).”

As with Pilgrim's Traverse, your character's attributes will not be affected by normal gear, and instead will be dictated by aetherpool gear strength.

There are no role requirements or restrictions for parties. However, tufts of phoenix down cannot be used during the Final Verse (Quantum).

    Sacramental Offerings

Special items called “sacramental offerings” are required to challenge the Final Verse (Quantum).

There are 5 types of offerings: sacramental spirits, sacramental spices, sacramental grain, sacramental light, and sacramental lilies. Upon completing the sidequest “???” players will receive 8 of each item, putting them in possession of 40 offerings. Further offerings can occasionally be obtained by appraising pieces of the Accursed Hoard found within Pilgrim's Traverse.

Players are free to choose how many offerings to use, with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 40. Depending on the type and amount of offerings chosen, boss behavior, statuses, and other factors may change. Only the party leader can select offerings, and other party members are not required to possess them.

    Party Composition Bonus

Upon invoking the Final Verse (Quantum), party members will gain a bonus to damage dealt according to the composition of their party. The bonus increases with the number of jobs in your party that rely on actions that affect the entire party. This bonus system is intended to compensate for the proportional decrease in utility of such actions as party size decreases.

    * The effectiveness of the damage bonus will differ between roles.
    * This bonus will only be applied to jobs and has no effect on classes.

    Rewards

Upon victory, a treasure coffer containing pieces of the Blessed Hoard will appear. Only the player who selected the offerings required to enter the duty can open this coffer. Once they do, their selected sacramental offerings will be expended.

Rewards are proportionate to the number of offerings used, and the player who selected the offerings will receive more rewards than other players. Additionally, the appearance of the treasure coffer will change depending on the number of offerings selected:

    • 15 to 19 Offerings: Bronze Coffer
    • 20 to 24 Offerings: Bronze Coffer
    • 25 to 29 Offerings: Silver Coffer
    • 30 to 34 Offerings: Silver Coffer
    • 35 to 39 Offerings: Silver Coffer
    • 40 Offerings: Gold Coffer
